The Unpredictability of it all!

What a joy the first week of Superleague was - If there was any doubt whether the usual favourites would be stamping their authority then that was all blown out of the water.

What a tremendous win for Hull KR. The side pundits were predicting would get stampeded on their return to the top flight last year - well not only did they survive but this year they've beaten the 'mighty' Saint Helens 24-22 in the seasons opener.

And what about John Kear's Wakefield Trinity Wildcats - edging past one of the favourites for the league this year the Bradford Bulls in 26-24 a thrilling curtain raiser.

But the real joy of it all is the fact that you really couldn't call any of those results and isn't that refreshing??

In football the 'Big 4' have started to impose something of a monopoly on results , unless it's against each other, and whenever/wherever that happens life can start to get a bit dull. (See Scottish Premier league). However there can be no coincidence thatSuperleague's product continues to be enjoyed by ever increasing amounts of spectators and it is this unpredictability that is paramount to the games growing popularity.

Long may it continue I say!
