The Sound Of Yorkshire Gig Guide Blog

The Sound Of Yorkshire is on-air every Saturday from 6pm on Yorkshire Radio

On DAB Digital Radio across Yorkshire - Sky Channel 0209 - www.yorkshireradio.net

This week I'm left pondering the similarities between Leeds United's Play-Off campaign and trying to get smaller bands projected into the stratosphere of massive public awareness. There are similarities, the essence of always being one step away from success and 'big things'. It's so close but still so bloomin' hard because of the competition. Essentially, both will come down to luck because if you've got that far then your ability has already been proven. There is also the excitement of the short term success that maybe, seeing as few bands or teams can sustain success at the top for many years, can be seen to be the same. Maybe I'm just clutching at straws, essentially there are more pressing issues this week than musical musings and by the end of Thursday night we'll at least know whether it can get any better or not.

This week on the show we'll be speaking to a member of the fabulous Art Goes Pop record label based in Yorkshire and bringing brilliant music to the masses. Also we'll be continuing on the 3-Play of the greatest indie rock artists ever and this week we'll be on 'S'. Have your say on who were the greatest bands to begin with S, send us an email (thesound@yorkshireradio.net) with your pick and let us know who you are and where you're from and we'll get it on-air this Saturday.
