The Sound Of Yorkshire Gig Guide Blog

The Sound Of Yorkshire is on-air every Saturday from 6pm

On DAB Digital Radio, Sky Channel 0209 and www.yorkshireradio.net

We'll, it's now official, I'm leaving The Sound Of Yorkshire for new pastures. Possibly not very much like a pasture in that it's in London, so perhaps a little more smoggy than green. I've taken up a new position at a new station, NME Radio, hosting Monday to Friday afternoons from 3 til 7. It's a move that's not only good for me but also for the regions bands in that, hopefully, I'll be able to help some of them up along the way with national plays. Who knows? Either way it's been nearly two years of fun and ranting about bands I love which is a wonderful job.

Fret not devotees of Yorkshire music. It doesn't mean that there's no more Sound Of Yorkshire, oh no, it means that it will be in the hands of a new presenter, but not for a few weeks yet. It might go a little quiet on the blog front over the next few weeks but the newbie will be responsible for the blog action after this week. Veils of secrecy eh? I'll just leave you with instructions to bombard with welcoming emails (no doubt flagging up yours and your friends' bands too!) to thesound@yorkshireradio.net

3 shows remain, and they shall feature in order from this Saturday onwards the best of The Sound of Yorkshire Sessions and Yorkshire Bands, The Best of The 90's and The Best of The 00's. Then I'll see myself out and post the keys back through the letter box. The end of an era for me and the start of a new one for our mystery new presenter.
