As Yorkshire Radio gets ready to celebrate 2 years on air on July 10th with birthday celebrations at The 150th Great Yorkshire Show there is more good news for the station with the latest figures for DAB penetration.

When Yorkshire Radio launched a DAB Radio was in 13% of UK homes with that figure doubling in two years to more than 27%. The figures are even more impressive locally with more than 35% of homes in the Leeds area having a DAB Radio the highest figure in the UK.

The presence of Yorkshire Radio in the Leeds area over the last two years has been highlighted as a contributing factor for the excellent figures showing that a unique offering on DAB can drive listeners to Digital Radio.

The figure for the Leeds area and the rest of Yorkshire is expected to increase over the next 6 months as Yorkshire Radio has exclusive Leeds United commentary for the 2008/9 season starting with the first game of the season away to Scunthorpre on August 9th. This commentary deal will be supported by new Leeds United shows on a Monday and Friday and a new look commentary team including Leeds United legend Eddie Gray.
